I purchased a 2011 825i showroom display with 12 hours on it last July for work on the property and some fun in between. Work wise it is a beast.

It pulls most small/medium stumps, power dump is a life (and back) saver, and using the tailgate as a work station is great for every project. Plenty of room to do everything from moving firewood to dumping loads of dirt or mulch.

I added a 64' plow for winter and I am able to plow my drive and most of the neighbors' drives in minutes. I pulled a 20' trailer loaded with neighbors and their kids on Halloween and it handles it with no problems at all.

I also have the sport exhaust which makes it whisper quiet compared to other similar machines. Compared to a Polaris side-by-side I'd take the Gator off road before them. The Gator is a bit more narrow and is easier to get into 4 wheeler trails. I have yet to find much that will stop this thing off road and that is not due to a lack of trying to find it's limits. There are some cons I've discovered, one of which is the parking brake has to be yanked all the way up to even engage otherwise the machine will roll forwards/backwards.

I would like to see a chain drive instead of the belt since it does slip sometimes when the undercarriage is wet. Also, a snorkel would be nice since the intakes are located below the seat next to the gas tank. I've had to place tape or cardboard over the information/speedometer screen since it is so bright at night it can be difficult to see. Overall this machine is a work horse and is fun to play around in. I would highly recommend it. Pros • work horse • fun trail machine • power dump Cons • parking brake setup. I bought the 825i after looking at all, and I do mean all, the others.

I was replacing a Koyker Raptor. The wife and I thought the Raptor was the best, we bought it used and we really used it. Since it was only made a few years 1998-2002, it was getting impossible to find parts for. Looked at all the others, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Polaris, etc. And the wife did not like them as they have gotten so BIG. We only use this on the ranch and all the others seemed to be made for pleasure riding in the great outdoors. The Gator is classified as a Tractor and that is how we use it.

As for the complaint of dust, I cured that with the split windshield, open the lower part and most of the dust problem is cured. We had a very wet winter and found it apparently has a mud magnet because we had to wash it after every trip through the north pasture. Didn't get stuck though. A real workhorse. Pros • power • ease of use • ability to go anywhere (almost) Cons • cost but well worth it. Have owned 825 since 2013 have extremely low hours and has been extremely been well maintained and never subjected to hard use. The transmission is like a stick in the bucket, have had to have it worked on with less than 10 hours of my use.

Shifting gears you feel like your grinding the gears to get it in gear everytime. Only way to avoid the grinding is to shut machine off and shift gears.

Had fuel filter problems with less than 30 hours, back to the dealer again. Dealer won't do bonafide recalls unless you break first!!!!!!!!! I would not trust this thing out in the open woods hunting or exploring and would gladly sell it if I could recover my money.

Machine has less than 50 hours and half of those were at the dealership as a demo. If your stuck with one use non ethanol fuel or it's going to leave you in the woods. A lot of hype without much substance.

In April 2015. Love so many features especially the power steering, the suspension and the power. One day as I was proceeding up a hill at relatively low speed, the transmission popped out of gear. I thought is was a fluke event but then it happened again over the next few months. I mentioned it to the dealer service manager who indicated he never heard of an issue like that. After doing research on the internet, it was obvious that this is an ongoing technical mechanical issue that has been around for at least 5 years since 2011. This last weekend, I was driving slowly through the woods and had to stop and back up due to an obstacle and after putting it reverse, when i attempted to put it into high drive to move forward, the transmission would not disengage from reverse after multiple attempts to get it to diengage from reverse to drive.

I had to take out the pin in the shift cable clevis linkage and tap the lever connected to the transmission gear shift linkage shaft to get it to disengage from reverse so i could get it into neutral to start it and then hopefully into drive to get it out of the woods and back to my shop so I could take it to the dealer for repair. The gator only has 130 hours usage time clocked as of the event. I am hoping for the best that it is not a major issue as some owners have described in various forums. I purchased the 825i and the dust was so bad in the cab you could not ride in it.I went to the dealer and they said I need the front windshield so I purchased that no help.

Then they said I need the rear wind screen. No help the dust comes in so bad you can not stand to ride in it. So then they said I need the door seal kit, whit when you buy it it comes with all kinds of stuff you do not need.

Then it still does not seal around the doors. And once you put the driver side on the door will not shut properly. I bought the gator 550 first,big mistake! I own a tree service so i was looking for a utv to drag trees and brush long distance when we cant get the chipper close.

The 550 was so under powered it would barely drag a big branch,then the motor leaked gas into the oil after only owning for a few weeks.I then began to read all the reviews online and let me tell u I shoulda read them before hand. Come to find out all the 550s have the same problems. Anyway I traded it in for the 825 and wow am I glad I did! This baby has yet to not be able to do anything Ive wanted to use it for.I can pull big sections of trees with it,pull my towable boom lift around when I cant drive a pickup on the lawn. We fill the bed with logs and mulch,its got power to spare,a very solid well built machine. I used it all season this year without one single issue. The oil is still clean, ill change it anyway cuz its time but its still golden so its running clean.

The other great thing is this babys alot of fun! Me and my kids go all over off road with it and its real fast or at least it feels like it. Im getting a snow plow put on this week along with the cab enclosure kit. Its pricey but you get what you pay for. I payed 9000ish for the 550 and about 13k for this and the value doesnt even compare. The 550 is a toy and the 825 is a machine built for work which is also fun to use. I dont write reviews but after my experience with the 550 I hope to save somebody from wasting their money,825 is the way to go all the way!

Pros • well builtsolid machine Cons • could use power steering but not that big of dea. Test drove several UTV's. Looked at more. Bought the 625i and was not pleased at all. Traded it back in and got the 825i. Heads and tails a better machine.

If you are torn between the two spend a little extra and get way more machine for your money. Don't make the mistake I did. The only flaw I can find with machine is that the brakes are a little hard to get used to.

Seems to take longer to stop than anticipated. Nothing wrong with this machine at all.

When choosing tires get the Terra Hawk A/T. If you're going to be on the pavement at all get them.

I had the aggressive tires on the 625i, and it demolished the yard and driveway. Pros • 50hp Cons • stiff brakes.

Been riding ATVs since 1984 when the first REAL production unit was put out by Suzuki, and was converting 3- wheelers into 4 before that. Moved on to the nastiest 250r's and 350 Banshees Indianapolis has seen, so it takes a bunch to impress me.

Moved on to the UTV market about 8 years ago, while still currently riding a CanAm XMR 1000, so it still takes a bunch to impress me. I've had the Rhino 700, the Kubota 900 RTV (apples and oranges, i know), a couple rangers, with the last one the XP900, as well as the RZR XP 900 which I just sold on ebay. Have not had the Kawasaki trex, but reviews took care of that for me.

I currently have a 2012 Kubota RTV 1100, which is highly modified and tricked-out, believe it or not.funnest ride in Hatfield & McCoy trails, when it gets dry and about 90 degrees out, or snowy and 20 degrees out.AC and heat are better than in my new Dodge Ram! The 2014 825i Gator: Wow. When the advertising says this thing has a split-personality, it is the most accurate and honest marketing claim I've heard.it's all that and more! Yes, there are faster machines out there.think RZR, RSX, and so-on. Yes, there are harder working machines out there.they all have Kubota or BobCat stamped on them. But when ONE machine has to cover BOTH bills, no other machine comes close, and I know that for a fact. That hydroformed frame is an engineering masterpiece.

I moved our 40 foot goosneck RV with it, and it took it! I knew in low it would pull it, as this things ability to pull weight is second to none, in low. I was worried about the frame right behind the seats where the two halves join.seems like if there would be a weak point, it would be there. Suspension was squashed-out, and even hitting dips, that frame took it!

First time I was completely amazed. Second time was in the Outlaw trails at Hatfield.RZRs (including my own, with my eldest son on it) got to a point in the coal-climb where they come to a all 4 wheel spinning stop. Recently purchased 2015 825i 2 seater with power steering and full glass cab and plow for small farm use and my wives' nature photography use. Originally was going to get a Polaris ranger but decided to test the Kabota, Polaris, John Deere and Arctic Cat first, since it was going to be an expensive acquisition, all had some good features, but the 825i had more of the needed features in one package, i.e. Power steering that is incredible, great power, superior seating and comfort of ride and quiet enough to have a cab conversation.
